The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application system.
Applications are actually open and may close on fifteen December 2024.
*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding
To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant will have to meet the subsequent requirements:
• Be a South African citizen or copyright who arises from a house which has a combined gross family earnings that doesn't exceed R350 000 per annum.
• Persons with disabilities qualify if their combined residence earnings won't exceed R600 000 per annum.
• SASSA recipients instantly qualify for funding and need not submit any proof of income.
*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle
The NSFAS Loan Scheme nsfas application for the missing middle is open to all South African citizens and permanent citizens from households with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for each annum.

NSFAS only funds people who are finding out or intend to study at a public university or TVET college in South Africa.
All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.
Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing my nsfas of their application.
